Sarah M. Newman

American soprano Sarah M. Newman has lived in Munich since 2008 and is a versatile, expressive soloist with a particular passion for early music. She captivates audiences with her fresh interpretations of major works such as Johann Sebastian Bach's "Johannespassion" (St. John Passion), Christmas Oratorio, and Mass in B minor, Claudio Monteverdi's "Marienvesper" (Vespers of the Blessed Virgin Mary), and Dieterich Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri.
Thanks to her exceptional ear and quick comprehension, she is also in high demand as an interpreter of contemporary music. She has sung works by Luigi Nono, György Ligeti, and Wolfgang Rihm, among others, and has participated in numerous world premieres. Sarah M. Newman is a graduate of The Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music in New York and was awarded a scholarship at the Schloss Weißenbrunn Bovicelli Competition for Diminution.
She has been active in SCHOLA HEIDELBERG since 2017.
