Philipp Nicklaus

Tenor Philipp Nicklaus studied voice with Bernhard Gärtner at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, as well as school music with a focus on organ and conducting. His repertoire ranges from the Evangelist roles in Bach’s Passions and oratorios to Classical and Romantic oratorios, recitals featuring works by Schubert and Schumann, and contemporary music theater. He has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, and the Stuttgart State Orchestra, and has made guest appearances both in Germany and abroad. As an opera singer, he has appeared at venues including the Stuttgart State Opera, the Semperoper Dresden, the Leipzig Opera, and the Mainz State Theater, singing roles such as Tamino, Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Don Curzio (Le nozze di Figaro), and Anthony Hope (Sweeney Todd). For his portrayal of Jacob in Gold!, he was awarded the Max Liebhaber Young Artist Prize at the Heidenheim Opera Festival in 2019.

He first performed with SCHOLA HEIDELBERG in 2013.
