Christian Wernicke

Christian Wernicke studied guitar with Alvaro Pierri and Roberto Aussel and conducting with Reiner Schuhenn at the Cologne University of Music. He spent a year studying in Madrid on an EU scholarship.
As a soloist, chamber musician, and conductor, he is a regular guest at international festivals, has participated in numerous television, radio, and CD productions, and has undertaken concert tours on every continent.
As an orchestral musician, he has played with the Berliner Philharmonikern, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, and the SWR and HR orchestras under the direction of Kirill Petrenko, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, and Daniel Harding, and has performed at venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Festspielhaus Baden Baden.
He has won numerous national and international competitions and is a scholarship holder of the German Music Competition, the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation, the German Music Council, and the Center for Art and Media ZKM.
Christian Wernicke is a member of the premiere ensemble ALEPH Guitar Quartet and the “ensemble aisthetis” of the KlangForum Heidelberg and has been a guest at the SWR Experimental Studio and the Munich Chamber Orchestra.
He is the conductor of several regional orchestras and gives courses in conducting, ensemble direction, and rehearsal methodology for the Federal Academy in Trossingen and the VDM, among others.
