As part of the CHIME Conference in Heidelberg from October 1–4, 2023, two concerts will be held featuring the KlangForum Heidelberg, among other events.
In this second concert, Gustav Mahler’s "Das Lied von der Erde" (The Song of the Earth) in the version for a high and a medium voice with piano will be juxtaposed with the commissioned work "Of Detours and Updates” by Ying Wang. The two ensembles SCHOLA HEIDELBERG and ensemble aisthesis will perform, with soloists Julie C. Eggli (mezzo) and Johannes Mayer (tenor).
A roundtable discussion on the topic Creative Transformations—Gustav Mahler’s ‘Lied von der Erde’ and its "Covers" with WANG Ying, Stefan HAKENBERG, DAI Xiaolian, and members of the KlangForum Heidelberg will take place at 5:30 p.m. The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Barbara MITTLER. Admission to this roundtable is free.
