World premier recording Michael Pelzel: La Luna, for 8 voices and percussion, 2021

Due to current pandemic restrictions, this project will be recorded digitally and made available as a video on our website this summer.

Unfortunately, neither the rehearsals nor the recording are open to the public, as the venue layout would not allow for the necessary social distancing.

Michael Pelzel’s commissioned compositions in this project continue the series "Star Constellation: Human."

Since time immemorial, humanity’s image of the cosmos has had a dual perspective: that of the gaze and that of the projection. Our project, which will take place both in the resonant spaces of classical concert halls and in the virtual infinite space of modern digital planetariums, combines both perspectives of the cosmos into new auditory perspectives.

The observable changes in the heavens, documented since Pythagoras, have been the subject of the oldest speculations in human inquiry. As early as the pre-Socratic era, the same simple "harmonic" numerical ratios were used to represent planets and their orbits as well as musical harmonies and intervals.

There is no such thing as the "Star Constellation: Human," but every image of the cosmos is also a worldview.
