Two Envelopes – Lisa Kokwenda and Jacob Vanneste
Guest at the KlangForum Heidelberg
BETRIEBSWERK Heidelberg
- Two Envelopes
Veranstalter: TANKTURM Betriebsgesellschaft
As Two Envelopes, harpsichordist Lisa Kokwenda Schweiger and percussionist Jacob Vanneste adventurously blend performative and electronic influences with their foundation in classical music. Two Envelopes collaborate with young composers to create repertoire for their unique instrumentation. The result is a soundscape that is excitingly diverse, each piece deeply personal yet interconnected – through their shared instruments.
Based in Brussels, Two Envelopes were selected as "International Young Artists" at Musica in Antwerp in 2015 and have since performed concerts at venues including Amuz Antwerp, STUK Leuven, Orgelpark Amsterdam, Mute Festival Ghent, Les Ateliers Claus, and Q-O2 in Brussels. Most recently, the two musicians were part of the ensemble aisthesis at the 2018 Baden-Württemberg Literature Summer and performed with the KlangForum in Heidelberg and Karlsruhe.
In Heidelberg, they are now presenting a selection of unique, beautiful, and intriguing experimental pieces, surprising the audience with new sounds and a refreshing concert experience. The concert is framed by an opening reception, which begins at 6:00 p.m. at BETRIEBSWERK, where the concert will later take place. The exhibition "DUBAI" by artist Tom Menzi explores systems of description and symbols that are as natural as they are unconscious parts of our lives and our sense of orientation, examining them for conventions, mutability, and possible narratives.
