For many years now, SCHOLA HEIDELBERG has been performing its traditional Advent concerts throughout the region. Under the direction of Ekkehard Windrich, the ensemble presents a wide-ranging musical program spanning six centuries—from the Renaissance to the present day.
The program will feature works by Heinrich Schütz, Johannes Brahms, C.P.E. Bach, Johann Schein, Morton Feldman, and many others.
The eight-member vocal ensemble will be accompanied by organ and clarinet.
“The program invites listeners to discover the anticipation of Advent in all its historical, linguistic, and spiritual diversity—an impressive soundscape that allows us to experience anew the timeless impact of biblical poetry,” says Managing Director Dominique Mayr.
The two ensembles of the KlangForum Heidelberg are internationally sought-after groups that, this year alone, have performed at the Salzburg Festival, the Radio France Festival in Montpellier, the Bern Music Festival, and the Contemporary Music Festival in Huddersfield.
