Music in Context: Eisler

Talk concert with piano music by Hanns Eisler with Christoph Keller

Betriebswerk, Heidelberg

Musik im Kontext: Eisler

Veranstalter: KlangForum Heidelberg e.V.

The Swiss pianist Christoph Keller, born in 1950 and since 1971 active from Zurich as a pianist, editor-in-chief ("Dissonanz/Dissonance" 1984-2000), radio music producer (1986-2010), and more, is now considered the most important interpreter of the piano works of Hanns Eisler (1898-1962), to which he has dedicated himself both musically (in numerous performances and benchmark recordings) and as an editor (Eisler Complete Works).
He was also responsible for the chamber version of Eisler's "Bilder aus der Kriegsfibel," which was performed at the anniversary festival "Die Würde - wessen?" last year.

It was obvious to invite Christoph Keller both as a pianist and as a speaker and advocate for Hanns Eisler, thus covering both "music and context."

A detailed appreciation of the significance of Schönberg's student, communist, exile, Hollywood composer, music thinker, and GDR state composer Hanns Eisler for the overall German music history of the 20th century can be found on Christoph Keller's website:
