The second evening in the "KlangForum solo!" series is dedicated to the human voice.

A recital with the word "Winter" in the title? Undoubtedly, the first thing that comes to mind at this point is Schubert’s Winterreise. And rightly so, of course, as it forms a central pillar of the widely recognized, performed, and cherished lieder repertoire. Catchy thanks to its beautiful melodies and melancholic mood: but what is it actually about? At this point, at the latest, many will find it harder to come up with an answer right away.

What do we associate with the term "Winter"? What is it, or what does it actually seem to be? What might it stand for, and what happens during the dark season? And even more intriguing: How have poets and composers viewed this over time?

This program attempts to provide an answer. In addition to works by Schubert, the program also features Mendelssohn, Brahms, Debussy, and others.
